What is Otoplasty or Ear Surgery?

It is normally used to correct prominent or separated ears. Both childhood and adolescence are wonderful stages of life, but they are also crucial periods in which character is forged and important complexes are produced. One of the most frequent aesthetic problems is that of detached ears, which, among other occasions, was translated for reasons of mockery and difficulties in social relations.

In most cases, otoplasty is performed through an incision in the back of the ears, so that behind an otoplasty there are no visible scars. From this incision, the remodeling of the cartilage is done by folding it in the appropriate points and thus reducing the depth of the shell, but always with the aim of giving a more natural look possible.

Otoplasty or ear surgery is performed under local anesthesia, always in an operating room with all the necessary guarantees, but it is not essential to remain in the clinic. The approximate duration of otoplasty is between an hour and a half and three hours, depending on the case to be treated. The most frequent interventions are the correction of protruding "protruding ears" or the surgery in contracted ear or in cup.
